Obituary for Iva "Hanna" Davenport
Iva Mae (Hanna) Davenport, 86, passed into her Savior’s arms early Saturday, July 22, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 10, 1930 in Creswell, NC. On January 26, 1950, she married her life-long love Howard from the same area and enjoyed a wonderful life filled with a large family, many, many friends, travels and experiences.
Iva is predeceased by her husband Howard W. Davenport, her father Howard Ransom Bateman, Jr., her mother Neva Caroline Furlough Spruill; sisters Reathel Bateman Patrick, Mary Jane Bateman Price; brothers Monroe, Henry and Bosey.
She is survived by four daughters, Karen Conrad (Steve), Sam Ekstrom (Barry), Jan Klocko (Ken) and Caroline Propper (Leonard); grandchildren, Steven, April, Katie, Lindsay, Callie, Daniel, Holly and Nick and great-grandchildren Amity, Noah, Jake, Trevor, Josh, Malachi, Cassidy, Zack, Ashton, Ryder, Rhys, Maleia, Levi, Troy, Scarlett and Sofia; and her beloved dog Gracie.
Iva has resided in Jacksonville, FL since 1973. She is known to most as Hanna as she was dubbed by grandson Steven when he was a toddler teasing her as she often did him. The name stuck and even her girls refer to her as Hanna. She loved to fish, quilt, knit, sew, word puzzles, trivia, the new coloring books, playing cards and probably most of all - shop. She loved to entertain in her home and every holiday was spent there with more food than anyone could eat, and so much fun in and around the pool that was added for the beloved grandchildren to enjoy. Her love of entertaining was passed to her girls who love to entertain family and friends as much as she did. A strong, steadfast Christian woman who never wavered in her faithful service to the Lord’s work, she instilled in her family a deep faith in and love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family would like to thank Brookdale Atrium for their care of our Hanna the past year and a half. She felt safe there and was especially thankful that she was allowed to keep Gracie with her.
