Elliott Daingerfield Dulaney, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on December14, 2017.  He was born in Evanston, Illinois on October 10, 1939 and was the youngest son of Joseph Eugene Dulaney from Bristol, Tennessee and Gwendoline Daingerfield Dulaney of New York City and Blowing Rock, North Carolina. The family was transferred to Richmond, Virginia, and in 1945 Elliott’s father was struck and killed by lightning. Elliott’s maternal aunt, Marjorie Daingerfield (a well-known sculptress) and her husband, Louis Lundean (an accomplished artist) were an integral part of Elliott’s and his older brother, Joe’s, life along with Elliott’s mother, Gwen.  Several years later, Gwen married Worth Plyer, President of Monroe Hardware in North Carolina. Worth was an inspiration and wonderful influence on the boys. The family moved to Monroe, N.C. where Elliott and Joe attended elementary school and spent summers in Blowing Rock, N.C. at Westglow, maternal home of their grandfather, Elliott Daingerfield. Later they attended and graduated from Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia.

He later went on to become a CPA where he used his knowledge in private not public accounting. He worked for various firms in accounting and comptroller positions in Atlanta, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida. He retired as Vice President Finance from Coastal Industries in 1998.

He married Patricia Anders (Beaufort, S.C.) in 1968 and was happily married for 28 years until her death. They had two children John and Ellen. He married Julie Reynolds Coker in 1998 and has had over 19 wonderful years of marriage, retirement, travel, and fun. In 2004, his granddaughter, Amelia, was born and has been a blessing and joy.

Elliott was a man of integrity, honor, humility, and kindness. He was most proud of his heritage. From his father he was descended from Kilkenny, Ireland from the 1600s. On his maternal side, his mother was one of the Daughters of the American Colonists descended from England and also Daughters of the American Revolution. His maternal grandfather, Elliott Daingerfield, was a famous American artist with works in fine art museums throughout the country and several historic landmarks in Blowing Rock, N.C.

A faithful member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Elliott throughout his life served as vestry member, foundation treasurer, usher, and in many other capacities. He loved tennis and won several club championships mostly at Hidden Hills Country Club.
