Ray J. Boynton

July 6, 1936 - February 2, 2018


Ray J. Boynton passed peacefully from this life to life eternal on February 2, 2018. Ray was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 6, 1936 and was raised in Albany, Georgia. After graduation from Albany High School, Ray attended Stetson University in Deland, Florida. While at Stetson, he was selected as Outstanding Intermural Athlete for 1955-56. It was there he also met his wife, Connie. Upon graduation in 1959, he worked for Proctor & Gamble and, in 1966, he began a 26-year career with Mars Candy Company. In 1975, Ray was transferred from Winter Park, Florida and then moved to Jacksonville, where he retired in 1992.

Ray's two passions were basketball and golf. He was a member of Hidden Hills Country Club where he was an active member for many years. Most of all, Ray loved his family, especially spending time with his grandson, Tyler.

Ray is survived by his wife of 61 years, Connie; daughter Caren Walrath; and grandson Tyler Walrath. The memorial will be on Saturday, February 10th at 1:00 PM at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, FL 32211. There will be a Celebration of Life afterwards at Hidden Hills Country Club (3901 Monument Road).
